VICTOR CHAUS (1940, Yampil – 2019) – painter, professor; Honored Art Worker of Ukraine (2000), member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1982); Honored Art Worker of Ukraine (2000). He lived and worked in Kharkiv. A follower of the traditions of realistic portraiture.

He graduated from the Crimean Art School. M. Samokysha (1962–1966), Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute (1966–1971), where he studied with B. Kosarev, B. Kolesnik, E. Yegorov, and E. Bykov. From 1971 he worked as a lecturer at the Kharkiv Art Institute (from 2000 – Professor of Painting, head of the creative portrait workshop).

Participant in Ukrainian and foreign exhibitions since 1972 in Japan, France, Poland, USA, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and the Czech Republic. Personal exhibitions took place in Kharkiv in 1981, 2014 and 2020. The artist’s works are stored in museums of Ukraine, private collections in Ukraine, Japan, Israel, Germany, Poland and the United States.
